Chairing conferences, publishing books and articles, and, generally, fulfilling goals we set for ourselves ensures our continued growth and development, and keeps us abreast of the latest legal developments. Here is a selection of the goals we have accomplished:

This year Chambers & Partners distinguishes our office in Spain as a leading team in commodity and shipping arbitration. The firm has been listed for Dispute Resolution (Band 5) in Spain. Clients heap praise upon head partner Albert Badia, highlighting his “amazing pre-trail preparation and ability to speed the procedure up and solve problems quickly”, as well as his “strategic approach and negotiation skills”. They say he is “perceptive, intelligent and always available”.

The 2011 edition of the DealMakers Global Awards has received a total of 18,745 votes worldwide, demonstrating a 23% response rate. The poll represents who the readership believes are the leading professional firms, within the various areas of specialization, across the various geographical regions. DealMakers Monthly is a magazine delivering News on current Transactions across the world together with Expert Opinions from Legal and Financial organisations.
7 April 2011:
AACNI holds the 4th annual conference ” Biofuels: trade and transport” in Barcelona. More than 30 guests are invited to disscuss a wide range of issues addressed by top panelists. Among the speakers and the guests are traders, terminal operators, consultants and surveyors.
March 2011:
AACNI Middle East Legal Consultants FZC has been registered as “authorized agent” qualified to establish International Business Companies in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Thereby, AACNI Middle East Legal Consultants FZC emerges as the first and, to date, unique firm of Spanish shareholders which has been authorized locally to bring International Business Companies to life.
March 2011:
AACNI takes off in Dubai. Since March this year the firm operates in the Middle East under the aegis of Raul Calvo, a lawyer long acquainted with Spanish investments and interest in the region. The firm´s activity in UAE is conducted by AACNI Middle East Legal Consultants FZC, a company incorporated in RAK Free Zone that provides consultancy in legal, commercial and financial matters.
1 August 2010:
AACNI reaches a partnership agreement with Seven Peaks GmbH, a firm of consultancy with extensive international, regulatory, corporate, transactional, and commercial experience. Seven Peaks complements AACNI in areas like corporate and commercial transactions, energy and water, commercialization of intellectual property and technology, and corporate and financial governance.

AACNI´s image is being updated as the firm grows and we expand our practice to new areas of law. Our logo has been redesigned and our website has undergone major improvements, making it more accessible and streamlined. The search engines have been upgraded and now incorporate the latest technology. We keep moving with the times!

AACNI chairs the conference “Containerized cargoes: casualties and covers” in Barcelona. The event joins a wide range of professionals representing P&I Clubs, shipowners, merchants, underwriters and insurance brokers.

The book “El Seguro de las Mercancías en el Transporte” is published in Spain. It offers a comprehensive review of the law and practice of cargo insurance in Spain. This publication is edited and co-authored by Albert Badia, as well as contributions from other AACNI members.

The portal “Arbitration Watch” is launched focusing on international review of arbitral jurisprudence. The project is sponsored by AACNI and is comprised of contributions from lawyers of different jurisdictions. It is a meeting point for practitioners, arbitrators, scholars, academics and, generally, for all those with a keen interest in commercial, shipping and/or investment arbitration.
