Credentials:

Registered European Lawyer. Qualified in Spain. Called to the Bar in 1994. LLM in Shipping Law (Southampton). PhD Candidate in International Arbitration (CEPMLP, Dundee). LLM in International Trade (Barcelona). Diplomat in Company Law (Barcelona). He was granted a scholarship by The British Council and La Caixa. Former in-house lawyer of a Taiwanese shipping container line in Barcelona, Albert became in-house counsel of the Andre Group in Lausanne,and, thereafter, founded the firm in Barcelona. He has lived and worked in England, Scotland, Switzerland and Spain. Committed and dedicated to contentious work, he is of counsel in shipping and commercial disputes. He is also chief editor of the Arbitration Watch and member to the Council of ICSAS in London. Among his personal achievements, there are four books and a large number of  articles published. He has accepted appointments to act as arbitrator in commercial disputes. He is mentioned with praise at Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.


Areas of expertise:
Maritime law: Conversant in charter-party and bill of lading disputes, ship arrest, salvage, S&P, shipbuilding and repair, collisions and casualties, Paris MOU detentions, marine insurance, general average, freight-forwarding and stevedoring.

International Trade Law: Specially focussed on matters related to commodities, vegetable oils and soft commodities, biofuels, steel and crude oil. He has been involved in quality disputes and others concerning letters of credits, collaterals and securities, distribution and agency, etc.

Investment Law: He has a keen interest in State’s responsibility and attribution, multi-corporate law, foreign direct investment disputes, BITs and MITs, and large scale investor-to-State arbitration (ICSID, SC, ICC, etc.) disputes involving oil concessions, natural resources, infrastructures and public utilities.
